BlackRock: 2012 Opportunities and Risks

Financial Adviser's picture

As investors consider investment strategies for 2012 many of the economic and political issues that caused high levels of volatility in 2011 look likely to remain driving forces in markets.

What lies ahead in 2012 for financial markets, both globally and across Asia?

Will the European debt crisis remain the key risk affecting the global economy?  Will China be able to engineer a soft landing?  Will we see divergence between developed and emerging markets? What factors should Asian investors consider over the coming months? Should we be prepared for outright disaster, a return to above-trend growth, or something in between?

To help provide a roadmap for 2012, BlackRock would like to invite you to participate in a conference call hosted by Asia Pacific Portfolio Management Group COO Marc Desmidt and featuring a panel of BlackRock investment experts representing various investment disciplines.

Ewen Cameron Watt, Chief Investment Strategist for the BlackRock Investment Institute, will discuss three key scenarios for global markets this year, their likelihood, what might trigger them and how they would affect asset prices. Joel Kim, head of Asia Pacific Fixed Income, will share his perspective on bond markets both globally and in the region while Andrew Swan, head of Asian Fundamental Equity, will outline his views on regional equities and where he sees the key opportunities and risks in the months ahead. We will also examine which themes and sectors we will be looking at particularly closely in 2012.
